When He's Not There

Title: When He's Not There
Characters: Sayid, Nadia, Omer.
Pairings: Sayid/Nadia, Omer/Nadia.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Spoilers for Sundown and He's Our You.
Summary: Written for lost_in_108 prompt #23; entangled. It's easier for them all when Sayid's not there, because they don't have to confront their tangled past.

It’s easier when he’s not there, because Omer can forget that he was second choice. He’d known Sayid was Father’s favourite, ever since Sayid killed the chicken for him. But only in his absence can Omer forget he was Nadia’s too.

It’s easier when he’s not there, because Nadia can forget what might have been. She could pretend it was over between them, but now she’s seen the photo, she realises neither of them have forgotten.

It’s easier when he’s not there, because Sayid can forget the mistakes he’s made. He regrets much from his Republican Guard days, yet pushing Nadia towards Omer is the greatest of all.

I love that you wrote for these characters, this was wonderful. There's not enough fic about them. :)

Oh Sayid -- this is so lovely, but so achingly sad. Great stuff!

Oh man, this is just perfect.

I love how you show this situation from all sides. It's so messy and sad for everyone involved, wonderful job.

I really don't get why Sayid thought pushing Nadia towards Omer would solve anything, because all he did was make matters worse! He really created a mess, didn't he?

This is lovely. I really like the way you formatted it, with all three point of views. It's so sad that this family has to live with all that tension beneath the surface. Great job!

Thank you! Sayid really wasn't thinking when he created this situation, was he?

What a lot of awesome observations you packed into so few words! I thought the repetition worked really well.
